Echuca has posted three straight wins to start the 2022 Goulburn Valley Netball season after a twilight triumph against Kyabram on Saturday.

The Murray Bombers ran out 54-40 winners in a tight round-three tussle, with Steph Vick’s team backing up last week’s win over Euroa with a gritty triumph out at Kyabram.

The game provided an opportunity for the club to test its depth, with several unavailable in the squad because of illness.

“We’ve had a bit of a different run-in over the past few weeks with our fair share of illness and had a few girls unavailable this week because they’re unwell,” Vick told Shepp News.

“It gave us a chance to give opportunities to other players who are very talented, I was very impressed with how they stepped up and performed on Saturday.

“Georgie Eishold stepped up from B-grade and had a great game for us.”

As of Saturday night, the win propelled Echuca to the top of the GVL ladder with its third victory following successes over Rochester and round one and its round two success over Euroa.

Echuca will now look to its clash against the struggling Mansfield to go 0-4 at Vic Park on Saturday, April 30.
