Services will follow an extreme heat timetable, meaning journey times are likely to be longer with trains running at reduced speeds.
“Safety is V/Line’s number one priority and on hot days, we take extra precautions to make sure our train services run safely and reliably,” a V/Line spokesperson said.
“To help passengers plan their journey with confidence an extreme heat timetable will be in place for the Shepparton line on Thursday.”
The Shepparton line Extreme Heat Timetable is available to download from the V/Line website and passengers can also pick up a copy from their nearest staffed V/Line station.
Due to this afternoon’s extreme heat forecast, we'll be running a partial Extreme Heat timetable on the Seymour to Shepparton line from 12.00 today.— V/Line Seymour Line (@vline_seymour)To access Extreme Heat timetables, click on the link below.https://t.co/s9flym7iz4 pic.twitter.com/KJXNstOzrhNovember 18, 2020
V/Line implements extreme heat timetables once the forecast reaches 36C and the timing can vary from year-to-year depending on the forecasted weather for the region.
“We have been working hard over recent years to improve our planning and preparation for the summer months, to help minimise the disruption to passengers on hot days,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said V/Line thanks passengers for their understanding over the summer months and encourages them to take care during extreme weather.
