Shepparton Field and Game will welcome more than 250 competitors from across Australia and Oceania for the 2022 FITASC Oceania Championships.
The 33rd annual FITASC Sporting Championship of Oceania will be the first international event to be held at the local sporting clays club.
Shepparton Field and Game committee member John Sheridan said the club was ready to host the premier international event.
“This is the first international event that the club has ever held. There is a lot of excitement,” he said.
“It’s been hard to host events due to COVID-19 but it’s great to be able to have an event back.
“Preparation has been running smoothly and everything is in place for the three-day event.
“Hopefully the event runs well and we can start to target the FITASC world championships.”
Action kicks off at the Dhurringile-based club on Friday from 9am and will run until Sunday afternoon.
Sheridan said despite the international talents descending on the local club, there would be some local flavour lining up to claim glory.
Mooroopna talent Xavier Russell leads the local contingent and will compete at his home club.
“There will be lots of competitors from across Victoria, Australia and people from Oceania as well,” Sheridan said.
“There’s a few locals competing and Xavier (Russell) will be one of them.”
