A male choir of 58 Samoans gave a heart-felt tribute in two songs at the memorial of former fruit industry leader Ross Turnbull at Murchison on Wednesday, March 16.
The former chairman of Ardmona Fruit Products died on March 3, aged 82.
At the function at Longleat Wines, eulogies were delivered by Peter and Anne McCamish and Mr Turnbull’s son, Christian.
At the conclusion of the memorial, attended by about 300 people, the Samoan men, who worked for the Turnbull family harvesting the annual fruit crop, sang two items, including a hymn and closed with a prayer.
Christian Turnbull described Mr Turnbull’s devotion to his family, his strong connection with the land and his love of jazz music.
An early adopter of technology, Mr Turnbull had an interest in innovations in fruit processing and fruit growing.
