Last weekend’s round five results raised more questions than answers for followers of the Goulburn Valley Playing Area weekend pennant competition.
Kyabram’s shock loss to Stanhope and Tatura-Hill Top’s maiden win of the season has left many questioning their season predictions from a few weeks ago.
The complacent Bombers get a chance to brush off their defeat with a home match against Tallygaroopna, while Tatura-Hill Top is at home to East Shepparton.
The Bulldogs, who lost four consecutive matches to start the season, appeared to have discovered their mojo last week.
Euroa was unable to halt the Bulldogs’ hot start to the match and suffered a 41-shot loss.
Tatura-Hill Top’s coach Brendon Boyd said after the win that his charges would look to keep the momentum going for this weekend.
The Bulldogs are at home to the Eagles — who are anchored to the bottom of the table.
“We are happy to pick up our first win and hopefully we can build on it for next weekend at East Shepparton,” Boyd said.
“Another win will get us firmly back in the mix of the top-four again.”
In other round six encounters, giant-slayers Stanhope will be hoping to live up to the moniker on Saturday.
Stanhope, fresh off that impressive win over Kyabram, faces the biggest test of all — taking on Shepparton Golf away from home.
Stanhope skip Rob Ponton will look to replicate his sublime effort against the Bombers’ Paul McInnes.
Ponton handed McInnes his first rink loss of the campaign.
Lastly, Shepparton Park will fancy its chances at home against Euroa.
The Parkers have dropped down to seventh spot on the ladder off the back of their 29-shot loss to Tallygaroopna.
Euroa will be out to add to its tally of two victories.
