Cup winner: Not to Be Mist wins the Echuca Cup on Sunday, the former WA galloper one of four winners for Flemington-based trainer — and former jockey — Nick Ryan.

Nick Ryan’s 35th birthday celebrations were an afterthought at the Moama Bowling Club Echuca Cup race day on Sunday, as the Flemington trainer completed his best ever performance with four winners.

Ryan not only won the $100,000 cup with Not to Be Mist ($2.80 favourite), but also the $125,000 Blue Fox Vobis Eldorado with another favourite, $1.85 pop Mynumerouno.
He had the winner of the third when Fiorente’s Girl ($3.80) saluted with Logan McNeil aboard and then won the Mackenzie Family Shadoways sprint when he toppled Echuca-trained (by Gwenda Johnstone) Pravro — attempting back to back wins — with Gold Spark ($3.20).
Rhys McLeod rode a double for Ryan and Blaike McDougall was the cup-winning jockey.
