Suns No.1 Lucas Enders was called into action during the game as his side hung on for dear life, making a number of unbelievable stops to give his side a lifeline.
The Suns’ best chance came when Fraser Gosstray met the ball on the half volley from outside the area, slicing it with immaculate technique to force an astonishing reflex save out of Lachlan James.
But with Murray knocking on the door, indecision from the Suns led to the inevitable as a Murray forward waltzed his way through on goal making no mistake finding the back of the net.
Coach Stuart Vance commented on what went wrong on the day for the young Suns.
‘‘(It was) obviously a really disappointing result,’’ Vance said.
‘‘We can take losing as a club, we can take losing as a part of life, but the performance put in by the players was disappointing.
‘‘We set out a specific game plan before the match and it wasn’t followed, people didn’t execute what they were supposed to do.
‘‘Murray were a team that I think we should beat, and unfortunately because of these things that we didn’t execute properly we paid the price.
‘‘Obviously we are struggling with four players out with injuries and different reasons, so hopefully once these guys get back in the next two to three weeks it will strengthen us and we will be able to compete with the top teams like we have been before.’’
