As Echuca-Moama’s only specialist wool store, there is no mistaking what she is all about – from the large name across the front window to the wall of wool almost the length of the shop.
She has a kaleidoscope of coloured yarn – from the pastel to the dazzling – and also provides haberdashery and does sewing repairs.
She’s always been a fan of knitting, so when the opportunity came up to share that love with others, it was just a no-brainer.
“When the shop went on the market, I had to buy it, it was just the right time,” Mary said.
“This is a great location for me, I guess over 20 years in the one place says it all,” she laughed.
It is a tactile place to drop in on; you just can’t help touching the colours, running your fingers over the various thicknesses and that phrase bouncing around in the back of your head: “Knit one, purl two”.
“As the only wool store in the twin towns, it makes for easy access, easy parking and still close to the heart of town,” Mary said.
For all of you out there looking for a bargain, Mary is said she was also having a sale.
From Monday April 8 to Saturday April 20, she’s offering up to 50 per cent off all discontinued stock and 20 per cent off all other yarns (including new season) and knitting accessories.
“So if you fancy getting into knitting, from clothes for grandchildren to jumpers, your footy club’s scarves, whatever your project, I have the wool you will be looking for.”
Mary is in store at 55 Haverfield Street from 8am until 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4:30 on Fridays and 8am until 12pm on Saturdays.
