But the local group, and groups from across the world, will gear up again for this 20th anniversary global event, which unites women riders from more than 120 countries across six continents.
“Women riders are not just part of the motorcycling world, they are driving it forward as leaders, mentors, community builders and changemakers,” GV Social Riders’ Possum Green said.
“International Female Ride Day is more than just a ride, it’s a movement built on connection, and empowerment.”
She said the event created a safe, inclusive space where women of all experience levels could show up, be supported and ride without pressure, expectation or judgement.
The event also provides an opportunity for women to connect with Women Riders World Relay, the world’s largest motorcycle relay, uniting women across the globe through symbolic baton sharing.
“WRWR is about pushing boundaries, building skills, and changing the narrative of what women riders look like,” Possum said.
“And right now, Australia is leading the charge, holding the top position on the global leaderboard for connecting women riders through baton passes, which is proof of the strength, unity, and unstoppable spirit of Australian women on two wheels.”
The 20th anniversary International Female Ride Day ride is on Saturday, May 2.
Riders who want to get involved can join an organised ride in their area, create their own ride and destination or download the free app to join the Women Riders World Relay.
Women riders of the Goulburn Valley are invited to meet at MOVE in Kialla at 8:30am on May 2, for a ride brief at 8:45am.
They will put stands up at 9am to travel through Shepparton, Tatura, Rushworth, Colbinabbin, Toolleen, Axedale and stopping at the Rifle Brigade Hotel at 137 View St, Bendigo, before returning home.
The distance is about 135km each way.
