If you’re a keen fisherman, a passionate home cook or a fan of Friday night fish and chips, you have until November 30 to complete a survey about what seafood you like best.
The Victorian Seafood Survey aims to help Seafood Industry Victoria (SIV) know more about what Victorians like to eat from the sea.
SIV chair Joanne Butterworth-Gray said the data would go towards informing Victoria’s fishing industries, that produce more than 7300 tonnes of fish and seafood from wild-caught fisheries and aquaculture.
“King George whiting, calamari, snapper, abalone, rock lobster, trout, mussels, sea urchins are all part of what we know Victorians like to eat when it comes to seafood,” she said.
Designed for the wide audience of those that enjoy food from the sea, the survey wants to find out what consumers know about where their meal comes from, and how they consume it.
“We know increasing numbers of consumers want to buy locally grown and sourced foods, so we want to explore whether that’s reflected in their seafood-purchasing decisions week to week,” Ms Butterworth-Gray said.
“We want to know, are they asking for Victorian seafood or accepting what’s on offer at retail outlets?”
Those that complete the survey also go into the draw to win a seafood platter for two from Apollo Bay Co-op including a fresh Bass Strait lobster and fish.
