Part of a main Shepparton street was closed off for seven hours on Friday, February 27, after a gas leak was discovered.

Police said a member of the public reported to emergency services that they could smell gas in Vaughan St, near the Wyndham St intersection, at about 6.30pm.
The fire brigade discovered a gas leak in a storm-water drain near Chemist Warehouse, police said.
Fire Rescue Victoria firefighters arrived on the scene within five minutes, and the incident was deemed under control by 6.51pm, an FRV spokesperson said.
Firefighters conducted atmospheric readings and remained on site to ensure safety.
A gas company attended and excavated the ground to find and stop the leak, the FRV spokesperson said.
Vaughan St was closed between Wyndham St and Maude St until 1.30am on Saturday.
