It is the most common congenital condition in the country, often impacting families from birth in many ways, including early surgeries, hospital stays and ongoing uncertainty.
This February, the national charity HeartKids is calling on communities to show support for its annual Sweethearts for HeartKids campaign.
As the only Australian charity providing support, resources and advocacy for people impacted by childhood-onset heart disease, HeartKids serves as a lifeline for children and their families when they need it most.
The campaign runs throughout Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week from February 7 to 14, leading into Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Day on February 14.
Show your support by donating $8 for the eight babies diagnosed every day.
Whether it’s a ‘Galentine’s day’ brunch, a Valentine’s Day dinner, a workplace breakfast or a movie night, hosting a Sweethearts fundraiser can raise much-needed funds and spark conversations.
Encourage your workplace or business to get involved by hosting a fundraising event or displaying HeartKids materials in your office or shopfront to help raise awareness.
A heroic effort! The GV Vets team dresses up to encourage donations to HeartKids, supporting people impacted by childhood heart disease.
