In an undefeated tournament display, Tatura has claimed the lower grade T20 flag over Pine Lodge.
Tatura had not lost heading into Sunday’s finals following an 83-run and a four-wicket win in the round-robin games, while Pine Lodge too had yet to taste defeat after comprehensive five-wicket and seven-wicket victories, both of which came with several overs to spare.
Both sides won in similar fashion to how they had prevailed on Saturday in the semi-finals.
A strong batting display saw Tatura eclipse Karramomus by eight runs after tallying 5-161, with middle order pair Heath Fidock (41 runs) and Jack Scholes (35) combining for a crucial partnership.
James Collett was impressive with ball in hand, clipping the bails twice as well as taking a catch off his own bowling to record 3-19 figures.
Additionally, it was the best economy rate of any Tatura bowler in the final.
In Pine Lodge’s semi-final against Northerners, skipper Steven van Taarling carried the bat with a near run-a-ball 40, combining for a 51-run stand with middle order bat Tanner Webber to see out a six-wicket victory with 13 balls to spare.
Prior to the batting stand, Pine Lodge bowled the Jets out for 129 with six individual bowlers claiming a scalp from the Northerners’ line-up.

In the grand final, the red, white and blue first faced up at the Leon Heath Oval crease and put together a strong total, whacking 9-160 off the Pine Lodge seamers and spinners.
In a similar win compared to its semi-final, Tatura’s scoring rate was enough to hold firm against an equally solid innings from its opponent, with Pine Lodge seeing out all 20 overs but falling 10 runs short, tallying 8-150 as the final ball was bowled.
It’s a back-to-back triumph for Tatura, which claimed last season’s T20 tournament title, although focus will turn to going one better in D-grade this year after its minor premiership season fell short in the second week of finals last summer.
The scorecard for the Cricket Shepparton lower grade T20 grand final was not available at time of print.
