And once again, the league leader is playing out of Memorial Oval.
Euroa’s Bec Colwell has dispelled any doubts the Pies would struggle to fill the hole left by prolific goaler Olivia Morris in emphatic fashion, setting her own pace in her first season of GVL action.
Colwell crossed to the Pies after a decorated run that saw her net VNL MVP’s, local league premierships, best-and-fairest’s, and a string of Team of the Year accolades.
It’s top billing – and the boom recruit has delivered.
Colwell sits 68 goals clear of reigning Wellman Medallist Kim Borger atop the A-grade goal-shooting, near-immovable in the goal-ring with 301 after eight rounds.
Half of those came in May, with her highest return against Rochester with 60 shots dropping in the net, also testing the backcourt of fellow contender Mooroopna (39) and finals aspirant Tatura (50).
It’s been a strong pairing alongside Mia Sudomirski in the front-court, and the benefit for Euroa is plain to see.
The Pies are not only comfortably A-grade’s top scoring team, the 2025 runners-up are also ranked the league’s second-best defensive team, by one goal to boot.
It’s been an unblemished run to date, sitting pretty on top of the ladder with eight wins as they look to add a second A-grade premiership to the trophy cabinet.
And if Colwell continues scoring at this rate, watch out for the Pies come September.
