At Shepparton Sports Precinct, which hosts a varying range of grassroots sporting codes, Goulburn Valley Water has dipped their toes into including another hydration station at the venue, set to be soaked up by athletes, coaches and supporters in the warmer months.
The new addition - a fourth in the precinct - is located within the athletics centre and will make tap drinking water more accessible for junior track stars competing in Little Athletics, to adult competitors and schools that use the facilities.
The latest hydration station follows the recent installation of one at Deakin Reserve, which made waves across the Goulburn Valley League’s grand final day on Sunday.
Other hydration stations across the Greater Shepparton region include at the Australiana Botanical Gardens at Kialla, Coloura Gardens at Toolamba, Rail Trails at Dookie and Murchison, Craigmuir Lakes at Mooroopna and outside health providers in Stanhope and Shepparton.
The stations have been met with a flood of support from Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Shane Sali.
“The facilities are used year-round, and this new hydration station is a welcome addition to the amenities available for residents and visitors who are utilising the precinct,“ Sali said.
With Little Athletics season beginning on October 11 - following a ‘come and try’ day on October 4 - the new water tap has arrived at the perfect time before over 300 athletics members run their laps.
And as the region prepares for the beating sun, competitors will participate safe with the knowledge a thirst crushing fountain is just a hop, skip and a jump away.
