From the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Inside the Studio’s final couple of weeks will be the last chance for Victorian audiences to view the exhibition before its national tour ends.
Featuring some of Whiteley’s most iconic paintings, including The balcony 2 (1975) and his Archibald Prize-winning Self portrait in the studio (1976), alongside ceramics, sculptures, sketches and archival photographs, the exhibition gives audiences an insight into the late artist’s vibrant creative world inside his studio spaces.
To expand their exhibition experience, visitors can access free activations, including an audio guide inside the gallery, which gives insights on selected artworks from Whiteley’s former wife and fellow artist, Wendy Whiteley, curator Nick Yelverton, and former Brett Whiteley Studio co-ordinator Alec George, as well as a Spotify playlist that digitises Whiteley’s famously vast vinyl record collection.
Free exhibition introductions presented by volunteers, community members and SAM staff are also being held in the gallery daily at 2.30pm.
Brett Whiteley: Inside the Studio is a free, ticketed exhibition, that will end on October 5.
Tickets can pre-booked online via the SAM website.
