An 1100-strong mass choir, featuring several students from the Goulburn Valley, will rhythmically rattle Melbourne’s John Cain Arena at this year’s Victorian State Schools Spectacular.

This year’s show, On Air, is the 30th anniversary of the event.
The local students, from Shepparton East Primary School, Numurkah Primary School and Peranbin Primary College, travelled to Melbourne Town Hall on Wednesday, August 13, for a mass choir rehearsal.
Shepparton East Primary School students Evie Baldi, Lucy Dickinson, Eliza Feehan, Olivia Rovers, Isobel Cook and Meredith Lonie will head to the State Schools Spectacular on September 13 to form part of the mass choir.

They form part of the 2500 Victorian students from 200 government schools who have been involved in a seven-month preparation for the two spectacular shows in September.
The 2500 students are made up of principal vocalists and dancers, backing vocalists, Victorian State Schools Choir, a 75-piece orchestra, 1200 mass dance students and the 1100 in the mass choir.

They will be joined by circus artists, musicians, singers and dancers, as well as other students working behind the scenes on stage management, audio, lighting, vision, costumes and production.
On Air will explore the unifying element between us all: air; every breath, every breeze, every sigh.
Numurkah Primary School students Eloise Delai, Mackenzie Arundel, Annie Dudley, Blake Sunderland, Madilyn Gundrill, Brooke Pearson and Tiana McLean travelled to Melbourne Town Hall to rehearse with 1100 students included in the mass choir of the upcoming State Schools Spectacular.

A proud tradition in Victorian government schools since its inception in 1995, the event gives students an opportunity to perform live on stage to thousands, later be broadcast on television.
There will be 42 musical items in this year’s show, including music from Sheppard, Queen, Gotye, Gloria Estefan and Connor Price.
The two performances at John Cain Arena are on September 13 at 1pm and 6.30pm. Tickets are available through Ticketek.
