The first instalment of council rates for the 2025/26 financial year is due by Monday, September 30 and council is reminding all ratepayers to check their notice carefully for important updates, including available concessions and electronic delivery options.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said eligible concession card holders may still receive a discount on their council rates.
“If you received a concession last year and your circumstances haven’t changed, the discount will be applied automatically,” she said.
“If you’ve recently become eligible and live at the property, you’ll need to complete a short application form.
“Contact council to request the form or check your eligibility.”
Council is also encouraging residents to make the switch to electronic rate notices, offering a more convenient and environmentally friendly way to manage rates.
“E-notices give you 24/7 access to all your rate notices in one secure online location,” Cr Hearn said.
“Signing up is easy – visit benalla.ezybill.com.au/ or scan the QR code on your paper notice.”
Cr Hearn said ratepayers that are having difficulties paying their rates may be eligible for financial support under Benalla Rural City Council’s Financial Hardship Policy.

“Now more than ever, we are committed to supporting people and businesses who are experiencing financial difficulties,” Cr Hearn said.
