The group, which included families, friends and first-time visitors to the snow, boarded the bus early in the morning, starting from Numurkah and picking up passengers along the way.
Despite the early start, participants were welcomed with a hot Filipino breakfast, including arroz caldo, sopas, sandwiches and mud cake, along with tea, coffee and Milo.
“It was the perfect way to start a long day,” Mayette Martin said.
“Everyone appreciated the warm food and company.”
The journey to Mt Buller was filled with conversation and music, with bus driver James from Cardwells keeping the ride smooth and safe.
Once at Mt Buller, attendees split off to enjoy the snow in different ways — some went tobogganing or skiing, while others played in the snow or took photos.
For many, it was their first time seeing snow.
Despite patches of fog and rain, the weather didn’t dampen the mood.
FAFA ran a raffle on the return trip, with several prizes donated by community members including Delma and Murray Broughton, who also supplied the morning tea cake.
The event was well received by all who attended, and FAFA is already planning for next year’s trip.
Best friends Mercy Chepkorir and Mayette Martin.
