Led by internationally acclaimed guitarist and musician Joseph O’Farrell (JOF), the High Voltage event will soon hit Yea, with guitarists across the region invited to partake.
Having just returned from a successful High Voltage event at the Norfolk and Norwich Festival in the UK, JOF will bring to Yea extensive knowledge of the art.
Yea Arts president Allan Thatcher, who saw the event live at Hamer Hall in Melbourne, said he had long dreamt of bringing the event to Murrindindi.
“I would love to see generations of one family come and take part,” Mr Thatcher said.
“Imagine a granddad and his grandchild taking the stage together or a group of mates that rock in their garage, but haven’t had the chance to play live on stage together.
“We’re creating this opportunity for all those who dream of rocking to make it a reality under the guidance of JOF.”
A number of workshops are planned to take place across the last two weekends of August for those interested to rehearse and get their stage craft skills honed.
Workshops will occur in Yea, Alexandra and Kinglake.
The High Voltage event is for all ages and all skill levels, and Yea Arts is on the lookout for other performers, like dancers, singers and other musicians, to make it a huge community celebration.
The event will take place at the Yea Shire Hall on Sunday, September 7 from 4pm, and is free to attend.
Participants will be sent a song book with the tabs and playing instructions after registration.
