Thanks to a recent council-led review into its Community Grant Program, the SmartyGrants platform has been introduced to better support the application process.
Mayor Daniel Mackrell said the upgrade marked a significant step forward in how the council supported local initiatives.
“We are proud to be adopting a system that puts our community first,” he said.
“SmartyGrants offers clearer guidelines, improved management tools and a user-friendly experience that will make applying for grants easier and more transparent.”
The grants program’s process has been simplified, and will now have different streams for the community to apply to.
Community grants will become available on a quarterly basis, opening on the first day of February, May, August and November each year.
Grants for events, equipment, junior development and inclusive communities are now open for applications via the council’s website on the new system.
To support the platform change, the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal will run grant writing training sessions across the region.
“As this program comes into effect, our friendly staff are on-hand to assist groups and individuals with the platform, with computers available at our service centres” Cr Mackrell said.
