Campaspe Shire Council residents can now have their say on designs to protect Echuca East from future flooding events.

The Echuca East levee draft design is open to community feedback until the end of August, with council drop-in sessions to be held beforehand.
Following the 2022 flood event’s impact, which severely affected the town’s east, the area was identified as a high priority in the Echuca Flood Risk Management Plan.
The proposed levee aims to provide reliable flood protection for residential properties currently unprotected by a continuous levee system.

The draft design outlines a levee stretching from the old Echuca Moama bridge along Anstruther St to Hovell St.
It continues along the existing substandard levee to Pakenham St, then east to Moama St and south to Snowden St.
The alignment generally follows the forest side of the existing levee and is located about 10m from the rear boundaries of homes.
Feedback on the draft design can be submitted until Monday, August 25 by emailing, mailing, or visiting the council in-person at the Echuca library.
On Tuesday, August 19, two community drop-in sessions will be held by the council at its offices from 10am to 11am, and 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
