A 51-year-old man has been charged with high range drink driving following a police stop in Sanctuary Lane, Deniliquin, last Wednesday night.
Police said they stopped the vehicle and attempted to conduct a roadside breath test.
The driver was allegedly unable to provide a sample and was subsequently arrested and taken to Deniliquin Police Station for further testing.
There, he allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.248, nearly five times the legal limit.
The man’s licence was immediately suspended. He is expected to appear in court to face charges of driving with a high range prescribed concentration of alcohol.
Deniliquin assault
Police are investigating an alleged assault at a licensed premises in End St, Deniliquin on Sunday afternoon.
Police were called about 4.15pm and spoke with a 53-year-old man who had reportedly been assaulted.
Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, and officers are continuing their inquiries.
