These were the words used by community-based social support group GV Pride after the passing of its beloved president Deb Chumbley last week.
The group said Deb fought a short but very brave and courageous battle with cancer before her death on Tuesday, July 8.
It was with sadness that they shared their loss with the wider community, which Deb had so much to do with.
“Deb was a gentle and compassionate soul who went about being a leader in her own special way,” GV Pride said.
“Deb always had the right words to say to all of us.
“Fly high, Deb, our beautiful angel who always emulated rainbows.”
A service to celebrate the life of Deb Chumbley will be held at Dungula Events Centre, 69 Dungula Way, Moama, this Friday, July 25, commencing at 1.30pm.
“The family encourages you to please dress in colour (if possible) and bring a photo or write a message to be pinned to the memory board,” GV Pride said.
“Please arrive early to allow time to make your way into the venue.
“For those joining virtually, please add your tributes and memories for the family by using the ‘Write a Message’ feature on Deb’s tribute page.
“In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to Echuca Regional Health.”
Return transport departing from Shepparton via Mooroopna is available from the GV Pride Hub, leaving at 11.30am sharp.
To confirm a seat and pick-up location, email GV Pride at gvpride@gvpride.org
“A reminder it is Winter Blues Festival weekend in Echuca. We encourage anyone that can to enjoy the music and a good time in Deb’s honour,” the group said.
Alternatively, the service will be livestreamed at the GV Pride Hub where members and friends can view the celebration of Deb’s life.
The GV Pride Hub will be open from 12.30pm, with the service starting at 1.30pm.
Light refreshments will be available on-site before and after the service.
