Galvin will start alongside Matt Burton for the first time on Saturday against St George Illawarra, with regular half Toby Sexton dropped from the starting side.
Canterbury's halves shake up comes little more than a month after Galvin arrived at the club from Wests Tigers, and despite Sexton playing halfback every game this year.
Sexton had been part of the Bulldogs' rise to the top of the ladder, where they sat from March until late last month when displaced by Canberra.
Galvin has previously started two of his four games for the Bulldogs in the halves in State of Origin impacted rounds, while coming off the bench in his other two.
The 19-year-old was also left out altogether against North Queensland last week, but will now claim the No.7 jersey with eight games to play until the finals.
"There is still a third of the season left," Canterbury utility Jaeman Salmon said.
"That's plenty of time to build a combination headed into the finals. So as long as we all get around him, he'll be fine.
"It's just all the boys giving him the confidence to do what he does best, and that is play footy. The game will come if he plays his normal game.
"We know he is a good player."
Sexton's omission comes a fortnight after the former Australian schoolboys representative signed to join Catalans in the English Super League next year.
"Obviously you check on Toby," second-rower Jacob Preston said.
"He is a great person who has a team-first mentality. You always feel for your mates but it is rugby league and that's just what it is.
"He was down here today ripping in for the (NSW Cup) side and wants to get better."
