The Eagles were a little slow out of the starting blocks, only edging the Tigers by two in the opening quarter at Echuca South Recreation Reserve, but the host displayed its strength after the break.
United grew its lead to eight by the main break and was well in control at three-quarter time with a 15-goal lead.
Amalie Pate brought key defensive pressure and capitalised on numerous turnovers in Cobram’s favour, with Alahni Hulley making the most of her strong leads and accuracy.
But the Tigers’ best efforts weren’t enough to prevent United closing things out with its best term of the game to win 55-30.
In B-grade action, Echuca proved too strong for the Tigers, taking the scalp 45-33, while Cobram’s C-grade contingent battled hard, only to fall to Echuca 50-35.
The C-grade reserve action was a thrilling contest that came down to a difference of just six points, with Echuca winning 39-33.
Cobram remains in finals contention in C-grade and C-grade reserve, with next week’s clash with Finley to be critical.
