The ‘Wonderland on the Murray’ adventure is a cross-border collaboration between Murray River Council, Campaspe Shire Council and the Campaspe Port Enterprise.
The spectacle will take the shape of sand sculptures moulded in the likeness of beloved Wonderland characters and will be set throughout Echuca-Moama.
Murray River Council Mayor John Harvie said the event would offer a point of difference and something new over the summer period.
“This experience will fill a valuable gap in our tourism calendar, attracting new and returning visitors during typically quieter months for events,” Cr Harvie said.

The large-scale handcrafted sand sculptures will be placed throughout public spaces to create a trail for families to venture on.
The trail will begin at the Port of Echuca, where visitors can catch sight of Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole into a world of magic.
From the port, the adventure will continue at the Aquatic Reserve, where there will be eight installations depicting key moments in the story.
Along the way, visitors will meet some of their favourite characters including the Caterpillar and Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit on his way to the tea party, the Queen of Hearts and her card soldiers and Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum.
The trail will then cross over to Moama where Alice will emerge from the rabbit hole at the Kerrabee Reserve.
To wrap up the journey, guests can join Alice’s famed Tea Party at the Moama Soundshell alongside more iconic characters.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Daniel Mackrell said the attraction would be one of the only experiences of its kind in Australia.

“With no other town in Australia offering a sand sculpture trail of this kind during the summer months, Wonderland on the Murray is set to become a must-see summer highlight, creating ‘wow’ moments for people of all ages,” he said.
The sand sculptures will be crafted by Sandstorm Events, Australia’s leading provider of large-scale sand sculpture experiences.
Director of Sandstorm Events Sharon Redmond said they were looking forward to sharing their artistry with Echuca-Moama.
”Wonderland on the Murray showcases the artistry and storytelling power of sand sculpture at its finest, and we look forward to creating a visually stunning and engaging trail that will enhance the visitor experience across Echuca-Moama throughout the summer,“ she said.
Wonderland on the Murray will be a free event for all ages, running for 12 weeks during the summer.
