Well, that’s according to eight-year-old Harly Carmody, who named his kitten Oreo after the cream-filled chocolate biscuits he loves to eat.
“She looked like an Oreo when she was a kitten,” Harly said.
“I also call her a cookie monster.”
Lazy during the day — and usually most nights — Oreo’s favourite thing to do is sleep.
She sleeps just about anywhere — in the cupboard, on the table, in the window and across the loungerooms on every single couch.
Occasionally, she’ll stir long enough to watch Harly play video games... before promptly going back to sleep.
But there’s one thing that makes their bond extra special beyond the sleepy cuddles — they share the same birthday.
“She was born on my eighth birthday last year,” he said.
“I got her when she was about a month old and now she’s almost one.
“I’ll have to get her a present — well, Mum will,” he added with a laugh.
Oreo arrived in Harly’s life while he was grieving the loss of his first kitten, Shadow, who passed away unexpectedly.
Her arrival brought comfort at a time when he needed it most — even bringing tears to his eyes the first time he saw her.
“I cried. She was just so cute and fluffy,” Harly said.
“Different to Shadow, but I needed her.
“I missed Shadow a lot.”
Harly believes that if Oreo had a secret life when no-one was home... she’d probably still be asleep.
If she had superpowers?
“The ability to fall asleep in one second,” he said with a laugh.
And if she had her very own YouTube channel?
“She’d post sleepy cat videos,” Harly added.
And if she were a movie star?
“It would have to be a lazy role,” he said.
“Although she does like jumping out of places and scaring the other animals sometimes, so maybe a horror.”
Either way, Oreo keeps life interesting — not a bad life for a cat who’s basically on permanent snooze mode.
However, for Harly, it’s not about what Oreo does — it’s just about having her there.
Living the good life — Oreo lounges in style, ruling the house one nap at a time.
Oreo and Harly Carmody share more than just cuddles — they also share the same birthday.
