The bye week has come and gone and, with that, we now find ourselves on the run home to the 2025 finals series.
And for those teams aspiring for some silverware, they will want to find themselves at Moama Recreation Reserve on Saturday, September 20.
The border-based precinct will host the Murray league deciders for a fourth consecutive year, while Moama Bowling Club has secured the league best-and-fairest night for Sunday, September 14.
Six of the last nine Murray grand finals have now taken place at Moama and league general manager Dale Norman said it all boiled down to its status as one of the “premier” venues in the region.
“Moama Recreation Reserve has consistently proven to be the premier venue for major events within the competition,” Norman said.
“Over the past three seasons, attendance records for the grand final have been surpassed.
“I and the Moama Football Netball Club are both committed to ensuring the success of the finals for all stakeholders.
“Additionally, the Murray River Council has provided substantial support, investing considerable time and financial resources into the Moama Recreation Reserve for the benefit of players and supporters.”
The league policy for rotating minor final venues has also continued.
Elimination finals will be held at Deniliquin and Congupna, while semi-finals a week later are headed to Echuca South Recreation Reserve and Numurkah Showgrounds.
Nathalia will host the preliminary finals.
“By rotating the finals, clubs are encouraged to take pride in their facilities and, as demonstrated over recent seasons, the grounds have been presented in spectacular condition,” Norman said.
It will take something special to unseat the current front-runner for the Coxon Cup, with Congupna still undefeated after 12 rounds and boasting a percentage of 477 per cent.
Rumbalara is similarly well-placed to defend its 2024 flag in A-grade netball, also without a blemish on its record.
