Bombers continue 2024 grand final redemption with second win over White Hills this season

In a higher scoring affair than their last meeting, L-G got its day under way with a mammoth 7.3 effort at Gunbower Recreation Reserve.

The Demons weren’t bad in contrast, kicking 3.2 in the first quarter to trail the host by 25 points at quarter-time.

White Hills outscored the Bombers in the second period — albeit by three points, with the status quo staying largely the same heading into half-time.

After the major break, L-G got back to its attacking best — nailing a bag of goals and a few behinds to snuff out any momentum the Demons procured in the second quarter.

The Bombers added 25 points to their already 49-point lead down the stretch, with their second quarter lull appearing to be an anomaly in an otherwise strong performance.

Blake Dye’s five-goal bag and Billy Hawken’s four-goal haul headlined L-G’s impressive attacking efforts.

The Bombers’ Charles Hancock, James Brereton, Sam Keogh, Nic Cattapan, Josh Hawken and Austin Windridge were honoured with best-on nods.

The 18.10 (118) to 10.5 (65) victory pushed L-G into fifth position with a 4-4-1 record and a date with second-placed Huntly on the horizon in round 11.
