A group of organisations and allies committed to reconciliation and social justice in the Shepparton region, the Collective, will be holding a free screening of We Don’t Need A Map on Tuesday, June 24.
The Southern Cross is the theme of internationally renowned director, screenwriter and cinematographer Warwick Thornton’s 2017 documentary.
Mr Thornton’s work focuses on the often-overlooked realities of contemporary Indigenous life with an insight that reflects his own experience.
Shepparton Region Reconciliation Group co-chair Dierdre Roberston says Mr Thornton’s film challenges viewers to think about what the Southern Cross really means in the Australian psyche, recognise how the image of the Southern Cross has been “stolen” and consider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives on land, waters and sky.
The film will be screened from 5.30pm on June 24 at the School of Rural Health on Graham St, Shepparton.
