The Lions have thrust all three of their Aussie born-and-bred stars - Bealham, Sione Tuipulotu and Mack Hansen - into the team for their one-off Test against the Pumas in Dublin on Friday that will launch their eagerly awaited tour back home.
Scottish centre Tuipulotu and Irish prop Bealham are both in the starting lineup while Ireland wing Hansen is among the replacements for the international, which will be the launchpad for the three-Test trip to take on the Wallabies.
Lions coach Andy Farrell revealed at a team meeting how Bealham had "cried like a baby" when given the news that he had been drafted into the squad as a late replacement for injured Scottish prop Zander Fagerson.
"I was able to phone Finlay, who thought he might have been in for the Argentina game because of injuries, etc, and I said, 'well, you're not just in for Argentina, you've also made it on to the plane, mate. You're coming to Australia.'
"And it went quiet, and then he just let everything out, all the emotion out," revealed Farrell.
"I mean, that's right, though, lads, I know we all take the piss out of one another, but that's what it should mean to be a British and Irish Lion. And it was one of the best conversations I've ever had. I actually welled up myself."
It's a real boost for the Aussie trio that they've been given first crack at playing in red for the Test side, which will be captained by England's Mario Itoje - but Farrell promised on Wednesday that the competition for places is going to be ferocious.
"I did an exercise a couple of weeks ago, and I've done it about five times since, of choosing what the Test side could be," said Farrell.
"You actually can't even go there because there's such good competition -- and that's how it should be.
"The exciting thing about Friday night is these guys get to show the teammates who are sat in the stands what they're all about."
Scottish skipper Tuipulotu is in a centre partnership with Ireland's Bundee Aki after the Melburnian returned from being injured for much of this season.
Bealham goes straight in at the scrum coalface while Hansen, one of Farrell's favourites when he coaching Ireland, will get his chance to show off his mercurial skills from off the bench.
The three Australian players will be among 14 players all making their Lions debut against the Pumas.
The side will feature an English creative edge with fullback Marcus Smith, scrumhalf Alex Mitchell and flyhalf Fin Smith at the helm, while there'll be five Englishmen in the starting pack alongside two Irishmen and flanker Jac Morgan, one of two Welshmen in the squad. The other, Tomos Williams, is on the bench.
