The Goulburn Broken Regional Waterway Strategy will set key directions for action, as well as priorities for funding for the coming decade.
Conducted by the University of Melbourne on behalf of the Goulburn Broken CMA, the first step will be seeking early community input through a survey.
“Healthy waterways are central to daily life in the Goulburn Broken region,” Goulburn Broken CMA river and wetland health program manager Simon Cowan said.
“The Goulburn Broken Regional Waterway Strategy will guide choices that affect everyone from Traditional Owners, farmers and local councils to tourism operators, recreational fishers, landholders and future generations who depend on healthy waterways.”
The survey takes only 10 minutes to complete, and participants involved will go into a draw to win one of three $200 gift vouchers.
“Following the survey, the next phase of community consultation is face-to-face workshops for those who are interested. These will be held in Shepparton, Benalla, Yea and Seymour in July,” Mr Cowan said.
“Once completed, this strategy will replace the current Goulburn Broken Waterway Strategy developed in 2014.”
The survey closes on Tuesday, July 1.
