Fellow Giants midfielder Toby McMullin also suffered an injury against the Dockers, but is expected to miss only one week with adductor irritation.

De Koning, meanwhile, is likely to return alongside Blake Acres (shoulder), Lachie Fogarty (hamstring) and Orazio Fantasia (calf) for the Blues.

Elsewhere, Collingwood captain Darcy Moore (shoulder) and fellow defender Dan Houston (calf) will have to prove their fitness later in the week.

Dion Prestia (achilles) will be available to play in Richmond's Dreamtime clash against Essendon, while the Bombers are primed to welcome back forward Jade Gresham (adductor).

Bombers midfielder Darcy Parish is set to make his return from a calf problem via the VFL.

Melbourne are set to be bolstered for their Sunday match against Sydney at the MCG, with defender Jake Lever confident of his return.

He has been sidelined since round two because of ankle surgery and played last weekend in the VFL - his first hitout at that level since 2019.

"I got through the weekend pretty well, so I'm ready to go, pretty excited," Lever said on Tuesday.

Vice-captain Jack Viney is also on the verge of returning from two weeks out because of concussion protocols.

Brisbane are tossing up resting ruck Oscar McInerney again, while midfielder Jarrod Berry will be a chance to line up against Hawthorn after recovering from a concussion.

McInerney (soreness) was a late out from their loss to Melbourne.

The Lions are hopeful defender Brandon Starcevich will make his return from a concussion within three to five weeks.

Starcevich suffered the concussion in round one and will move into full training over the next weeks.

Gold Coast forward Elliot Himmelberg's season is over after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the VFL.

He was one of three casualties from the reserves match, joined by ruck Max Knobel (foot) and forward Lloyd Johnston (concussion).

North Melbourne defender Darcy Tucker has also suffered a season-ending injury and will require back surgery.
