School leavers often face a daunting array of choices as they step into the workforce.
The question of where to begin can be overwhelming, and that's where Primary Care Connect comes in.
With its emphasis on comprehensive health and wellbeing services, it provides an ideal entry point into the world of community services, whether that be in an administrative, nursing, clinical, case management or leadership role.
Primary Care Connect media and communications co-ordinator Shara Scott said she was so inspired by today’s youth, their focus on wanting to make the world better and help make that change.
“Not everybody can be in a clinical or health role,” she said.
“The best thing about Primary Care Connect is, that even if you love, for example, writing and being creative, but still want to go to work everyday feeling like you’re making a difference, you can do that, just like I feel I am at Primary Care Connect.
“I go home feeling like I’ve made a difference, filled with purpose, and I don’t see clients.”
The organisation prioritises professional development, ensuring that employees have access to training and mentorship.
This commitment to growth makes it a perfect launchpad for those eager to make a difference in their community, while building a solid foundation for their careers.
For Achol Padual, the chance to work locally along with the opportunity to undertake a traineeship the year after school, was an obvious choice to say yes to.
“I attended Notre Dame and when I finished school, I knew I wanted to continue studying, but I didn’t want to leave my town or my family,” she said.
“Being able to do a traineeship in business with Primary Care Connect has led to me now working as an assistant in the media team with Primary Care Connect and I have found something I really love.
“I finished my traineeship almost two years ago, and have continued my employment, and am now studying a Bachelors Degree in Digital and Social Media.”
For individuals seeking a career change, the community health sector offers a rewarding alternative.

Whether you’ve spent years in a different industry or are simply looking for a change in scenery, Primary Care Connect provides the tools and support necessary to thrive.
Additionally, for those already working within the sector, Primary Care Connect offers a refreshing change.
If you're feeling stagnant in your current role or seeking new challenges, the organisation provides the opportunity to expand your skillset and take on new responsibilities.
“Some of the most passionate and dedicated clinicians come from completely different sectors and they find something in community health that just lights them up,” Shara said.
