Broncos head of performance Dave Ballard said 20-year-old Mozer suffered the injury last week.
He trained on Monday at dummy-half but a scan revealed an issue, the nature of which the club did not go into detail about
"He'll begin a rehab program this week and will be involved in non-contact sessions for at least a month. We don't expect him to be available for round one," Ballard said.
In the best-case scenario, Mozer would be touch and go for the away round-two clash with Canberra on March 15 and unavailable for Brisbane's opening away clash with Sydney Roosters on March 6.
Mozer, who now won't play Sunday's trial against Gold Coast or the following week in the clash with Canterbury, was one of four Broncos rakes in the frame for the No.9 and No.14 jersey against the Roosters.

Walters has spent time at Broncos pre-season training in the halves in attack and defence. He has also joined the playmakers in short kicking drills, but is expected to be one of the dummy-halves named against the Roosters.
