Nathalia lifts late to defeat Barooga

It was a final-quarter flurry from the Purples that eventually secured them the win in the Murray Football League contest, booting five goals to three in the stanza to claim an eight-point victory.

The Hawks had earned a two-point advantage at quarter-time, but extended that lead to 15 points by the main break.

The home side at Barooga Recreation Reserve was still five points in front at the last change, but could not hold on in the face of Nathaliaâ€™s charge to the finish line.

Lucas Olson was almost the hero for the Hawks with eight majors in a best-on-ground performance, but Liam Evans (three goals), Alex Hicks (three), Drew Barnes and Al Corry all stood tall for the Purples.

Ricky Thomson and Riley Gow were also impressive for the home side in the defeat, while Rhys Shannon, Tom Nihill, Adam Jorgensen and Ned Nihill provided the visitors with plenty of spark.
