The decision was made at the May Strathbogie Shire Council meeting, with the refurbishment works being part of the 2023/24 capital works program.
The toilets will be temporarily closed for refurbishment after the King’s Birthday weekend with temporary facilities available on site.
The existing facilities have been deemed outdated and inconvenient, and required frequent maintenance.
The makeover includes a fresh look for the walls, floors, fixtures, partitions, lighting and mirrors, while the exterior of the building will retain its current charm.
Administrator Peter Stephenson gave the green light to the tender, highlighting the significance of providing top-notch facilities for the booming number of visitors to Nagambie.
“Nagambie’s continual growth is seeing increasing numbers of visitors who expect modern, convenient facilities,” Mr Stephenson said.
He further added that investing in clean, contemporary comfort stations not only boosted visitor satisfaction but also encouraged longer stays and repeat visits.
“The upgraded facilities will meet immediate needs and contribute to the long-term liveability and attractiveness of Nagambie,” he said.
The refurbishment project is slated for completion by August, with temporary toilet facilities, including three single unisex units and one ambulant unit, available in close proximity during the construction phase.
The works have been scheduled during the quieter winter months to minimise inconvenience.
