Tatura celebrating 125 years

Tatura Park will be packed tomorrow as the club celebrates its 125th year of existence.

The Bulldogs have been around since the start of the Goulburn Valley League — as has Shepparton, Mooroopna and tomorrow’s opponent Kyabram — and will use the clash to look back on their history.

The players will wear heritage jumpers, while at an after match function a football and netball Team of Champions will be announced, along with club Hall of Fame inductees and the launch of a booklet to commemorate the occasion.

The club has even released a limited edition wine range to go along with the celebrations.

Chairman of Tatura’s 125-year committee Tim Nihill explained the reason why his Bulldogs were going all-out for the anniversary.

‘‘From the club’s perspective we’ve been using it as an opportunity for everyone that is involved in the club now to get an appreciation of the past,’’ Nihill said.

‘‘We’ll have all of the old flags out, pictures of past best-and-fairest winners and it’s a great opportunity for the young players to have a look back at the history.

‘‘We’ll also have some of the older players there with the team of champions being announced, so the younger generation will get to meet them and celebrate with them.

‘‘We’re really looking forward to it.’’
