AUSTRALIA v WEST INDIES, First Frank Worrell Trophy Test, Adelaide Oval, day three.
SCORE: Australia (283 and 0-26 beat West Indies (188 and 120) by 10 wickets to retain the Frank Worrell Trophy.
SUMMARY: Resuming at 6-73 and still needing 22 runs to make Australia bat again, any hopes of a West Indies miracle were quickly killed off when Joshua Da Silva hooked Mitchell Starc straight to Josh Hazlewood at deep backward square. Alzarri Joseph and Gudakesh Motie both followed before the deficit was erased, before Shamar Joseph's big debut continued. The No.11 cover-drove Josh Hazlewood for four off the first ball he faced, before following up with another one two overs later before pulling the quick for another boundary. He was eventually stumped off Nathan Lyon on 15, setting Australia 26 to win. Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja got the runs required down to one before Khawaja was struck on the jaw by Joseph and retired hurt. That brought Marnus Labuschagne to the wicket and he hit the winning runs.
PLAYER OF THE MOMENT: Josh Hazlewood. The quick's hot run continued as he completed his first five-wicket haul of the summer, after ripping the heart out of the West Indies on the second evening. Hazlewood's 5-35 means he has now taken 13-95 across his last three Test innings.
STAT OF THE DAY: It took Australia 1112 balls to claim victory in the first Test. That is the quickest capitulation by a West Indies side against Australia since their first tour of the country in 1931.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Big fella turned it on this week. Yesterday as well, we only had a decent lead, but not huge. Then he took the game away from them in the space of one spell. He was on fire." - Pat Cummins sums up Josh Hazlewood's big few days in Adelaide.Â
