The Melbourne Renegades have welcomed back Shaun Marsh for their crunch BBL clash with the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium.

The Renegades won the toss and elected to bowl, with Marsh the big inclusion in place of Aaron Finch.

Marsh was grounded for the opening four games due to injury and his inclusion is an important boost as the Renegades attempt to win their first match of the season.

The Renegades sit second bottom with three losses and a no result to their name.

Spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman will play despite being sanctioned by the Afghanistan Cricket Board for putting his BBL contract ahead of the interests of the national cricket body.

Mujeeb, Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen Ul Haq have all had their annual Afghanistan contracts delayed and permission to play franchise cricket revoked for two years.

It means Mujeeb is no guarantee to be able to play for the Renegades beyond December 31, given the sanction kicks in from January 1.

The Scorchers have lost captain Ashton Turner (knee) for the rest of the season.

Nick Hobson has been named as his replacement against the Renegades, with Aaron Hardie named captain for the rest of the campaign.

Scorchers: Zak Crawley, Cooper Connolly, Aaron Hardie (capt), Josh Inglis, Laurie Evans, Nick Hobson, Ashton Agar, Jhye Richardson, Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Lance Morris

Renegades: Quinton de Kock, Joe Clarke, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Nic Maddinson (capt), Shaun Marsh, Jonathan Wells, Will Sutherland, Tom Rogers, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
