Property manager Julie "Julez" Seed died after being stabbed outside her workplace in the inner-south Adelaide suburb of Plympton on Wednesday afternoon.
The 38-year-old had been working at REAL Estate Agents Group since June 2021, according to a Facebook post by the company.
A 50-year-old Henley Beach woman was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) with serious injuries and is in a stable condition.
SA Health confirmed the 30-year-old alleged assailant had only recently been released into the community.
"We are aware of an incident involving a patient who has been treated for a mental health condition at the RAH, and was discharged on the 18th December through a clinical decision," a spokeswoman said in a statement on Thursday
"The chief psychiatrist will be reviewing the circumstances around this patient's treatment and discharge."
The man was arrested at the scene and charged with murder and attempted murder.
SA Police allege he was not known to the women and had been walking along Anzac Highway and surrounding areas prior to the incident.
Officers seized a knife and a small hammer from the scene.
The man is set to appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court later on Thursday.
