A group of local ladies has taken on a special mission.

Girls on a Mission is a local Tatura group of women of all ages who catch up once a fortnight for fellowship and to share their crafts.

Originally, GOAM was a group started by Generations Church members who crocheted blankets and donated them along with Bibles to outback Australian missions.

More recently, the focus of the group has been to showcase the many craft talents of the ladies to produce items to sell to fundraise for community projects.

Some of their projects include greeting cards, sewing, knitting, plant propagation, painting, jam and chutney making and crocheting.

These crafts are also available to buy at Generations Op Shop, where you can find them once a fortnight crocheting and enjoying some tea in the Coffee Corner.

“We meet once a fortnight on a Monday morning, and it’s a gathering for girls to get together and talk and also do our crafts,” Lisa Usser from GOAM said.

“So, at the moment, we are doing fundraising for a freezer here at Generations Food Bank.”

The group is open to everyone, not just church members. If you’d like to join the group, please speak to Lisa at Generations Op Shop at 119 Hogan St, Tatura, or phone 5824 3059.
