Echuca Green claims fourth straight win as Nagambie waits in the wings

Echuca Green has won four consecutive games in Goulburn Murray Cricket’s senior women’s competition, accounting for clubmates Echuca White in round seven on Sunday.

Currently in third place, Echuca put on a stellar bowling performance after setting White 95 for victory.

Echuca Green’s total of 2-94 was crafted mainly by Grace Riddell, who managed 34 runs, while Marli Hollamby made 20.

Jordan Dalziel bowled a tidy 1-8 off her four overs for Echuca White, and Madeline Davy also snared a wicket.

But despite an early 10-run stand from Davy, Echuca Green’s bowlers proved up to the challenge of defending their total.

Skipper Jessica Cox claimed figures of 2-1 off four overs, and Sophie Douglas was equally tidy with 2-3 to restrict Echuca White to 8-29.

It’s been a solid four-week period of cricket for Echuca, but they face a stern challenge in Nagambie this Sunday away from home, with the Lakers sitting fourth.

Meanwhile, Echuca White can build on its one-win season when facing bottom-placed Cooma at Victoria Park.

In other round seven results, Kyabram Redbacks batter Penny Mason top-scored for a fourth week with 25 runs to see her side notch a thrilling two-wicket win over Cooma.

The Redbacks are in fifth place, just one game out of the top four.

Second-placed Mooroopna kept its unbeaten run alive courtesy of a monstrous 2-209, notching a 115-run win over Nathalia.

Ladder-leaders Shepparton United claimed a 31-run win over Nagambie.
