Emergency services were called to a salon at Marrickville, in Sydney's inner west, after reports two men had been shot in a daylight ambush on July 7.
Officers found the men, aged 20 and 33, inside the shop with gunshot wounds.
The salon is located about 100 metres from a police station and a short distance from the prime minister's electorate office.
One man suffered serious injuries in the attack but he has since been released from hospital.
A short time after the shooting, two cars were set ablaze in neighbouring suburbs.
Officers said they believed the burnt-out grey Kia Stinger in Marrickville and a white Triton ute in Dulwich Hill were linked to the attack.
Two days later, a burnt-out white Toyota Aurion was discovered in Smithfield.
Police on Tuesday released CCTV footage of two men seen leaving the Toyota Aurion and getting into a white Yaris, which investigators believe might have been used as a getaway car after the shooting.
The men are seen wearing black tracksuit pants and hooded jumpers.
Police previously said they believed the targeted attack could be linked to the killing of convicted cocaine kingpin and underworld figure Alen Moradian in Bondi Junction the previous week.
Moradian's death spurred a series of tit-for-tat shootings across Sydney.
