The Broncos confirmed on Saturday that their skipper sustained the injury at Friday's training session.
"Adam was sore in his calf after yesterday's training session at Red Hill," Broncos high performance chief Dave Ballard said.
"At this stage of the season we will take a cautious approach and have Adam work through his rehab over the coming week.
"He will miss the game in Canberra before we look to the Storm game the following Thursday."
Brisbane coach Kevin Walters confirmed to AAP via text that Madden would slot in at halfback in place of Reynolds.
Reynolds missed the round 23 win over North Queensland and Madden had his best game in a Broncos jersey in a 30-14 win.
The injury to Reynolds has come just as the Broncos had all but wrapped up a top two spot.
They will get the two points from the bye in the current round to go to 40 points, four points clear of the third-placed Warriors and with a far better for and against record.
The only way the Broncos could miss out on a top two spot is if they were badly beaten by the Raiders and Melbourne in the final two rounds and the Warriors had healthy wins over St George Illawarra and the Dolphins.
Reynolds has been the linchpin for the Broncos this year and has brought out the best in all the players around him.
