The Lions Clubs Junior Public Speaking Region Final attracted more than 100 people at the Tocumwal Lions function rooms on Sunday.
Speakers represented the Lions Clubs of Barooga, Cobram, Finley, Jerilderie, Katamatite, Strathmerton, Tocumwal, Tungamah and Yarrawonga.
Year 3 to 4 students presented a prepared speech about being a giant for a day.
The Year 5-6 students presented a speech about a strange world record.
They also presented a one minute answer to the question ‘Do you think it is better to grow up in a regional area?’.
Judges Fran Hatty, Leslie Smith and George Allen spent some time choosing the winners.
The Year 3-4 winner was Tyler Goesch from Barooga, with the runner-up being Alice Lebner from Cobram.
The Year 5-6 winner was Kaydnce Sibraa from Finley, while Layla Harrison from Tocumwal was runner-up.
Tyler and Kaydnce will now go on to the district final at Girgarre on August 27.
