ZAK CRAWLEY - 8.5

England's faith in him through a lean home summer last year was repaid with two crucial knocks late in the series. Crawley's 189 at Old Trafford swung the momentum of the Ashes firmly into England's favour, while his second-innings 73 at The Oval set the tone for the hosts to level the series. Was also near-flawless in the slips, taking nine catches.
BEN DUCKETT - 5
321 runs at 35.66 (5 Tests)
Entered the series with a reputation of being the man who never leaves the ball, and lived up to the title by playing at every delivery he faced after the Lord's Test. Made 98 and 83 at there, and while he got starts in three other innings he was still edged off in five of eight knocks.
MOEEN ALI - 5.5
180 runs at 25.71, 9 wickets at 51.44 (4 Tests)
Showed his age after being called out of retirement in a series bookended by a blistered finger and groin injury. Got the key wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith to turn the Headingley Test, and then bowled wonderfully on day five to give England victory at The Oval. His batting strangely became his strength after Leeds at No.3.
JOE ROOT - 7.5
412 runs at 51.5, 6 wickets at 28.99 (5 Tests)
Set himself up for a big series with a first-up century at Edgbaston. And while his rash shots let Australia back into the match at Lord's, Root stood up in the final two Tests. An 84 at Old Trafford and 91 at The Oval helped ensure England would at least draw the series. His bowling also came in handy given Moeen's troubles.
HARRY BROOK - 7
363 runs at 40.33, (5 Tests)
Didn't get the kind of big scores that had dominated the first year of his career, but produced two of the most important innings of the series for England. Got the hosts home in Headingley with 75 in the fourth-innings, before his 85 kept the first innings together at The Oval.
BEN STOKES - 7.5
405 runs at 45.00, 3 wickets at 29.66 (5 Tests)
Lingering knee problems stopped him having an impact with the ball, but Stokes' batting still made him England's most dangerous player. Threatened to pull off a repeat of Headingley 2019 at Lord's with a hard-hitting 155, while his 80 the following week at Leeds kept England in the must-win match.
JONNY BAIRSTOW - 5.5
322 runs at 40.25, 24 dismissals (5 Tests)
The numbers don't sum up Bairstow's series. Made clear to everyone his return from a broken leg had hampered his wicketkeeping, as he put down eight chances across the first three Tests. Many proved costly, particularly at Edgbaston. Batted well in the first, fourth and fifth Tests but his primary job is with the gloves. Was better in the final two Tests.
CHRIS WOAKES - 9
79 runs at 19.75, 19 wickets at 18.14 (3 Tests)
The player of the series after making a massive impact when brought in for the third Test. Only picked for balance after Ollie Pope's shoulder dislocation and Ben Stokes' knee injury, Woakes helped England home with the bat at Headingley and even usurped Stuart Broad to be the hosts most dangerous seamer.
MARK WOOD - 8
14 wickets at 20.21 (3 Tests)
One of the great what-ifs of England's home summer. Without their fastest bowler at Edgbaston and Lord's, the hosts were beaten and down 2-0 in the series. His first spell at Headingley breathed life into England's series, and when Wood wasn't taking wickets himself they were falling at the other end with the pressure he built.
STUART BROAD - 8.5
22 wickets at 28.40 (5 Tests)
England's most consistent performer. Took his tally of wickets against Australian to a record 153 by consistently challenging the tourists' outside edges this series. Earned the dream farewell he deserved at The Oval by hitting his last ball for six and taking a wicket with his final delivery. Australia will be happy to see the back of him.
JAMES ANDERSON - 3
5 wickets at 85.40 (4 Tests)
Questions linger over Anderson's future after an underwhelming Ashes. The 41-year-old has declared he wants to play on, but that may be no guarantee after looking the least threatening of all bowlers in this series. Former captain Michael Vaughan went as far to say that the "sentimental" pick of Anderson may have cost England the Ashes.
OLLIE ROBINSON - 5.5
10 wickets at 28.40 (3 Tests)
Made himself public enemy No.1 in Australia after he gave Usman Khawaja a big send off in the first innings at Edgbaston. Then preceded to bag Australia's past players and their behaviour, before being injured in the Headingley Test and overlooked for the rest of the series. Was still handy with the ball when on the field.
OLLIE POPE - 3
90 runs at 22.50 (2 Tests)
Failed to reach any real heights in the first two Tests of the series before suffering a shoulder injury in the field at Lord's. Began the series England's vice-captain, but may struggle to have his spot back for the tour of India.
JOSH TONGUE - 5Â
5 wickets at 30.2 (1 Test)
Was close to England's best bowler in the one match he played at Lord's. Knocked over David Warner twice, Steve Smith twice and Usman Khawaja once, but was not picked again.
