A Sydney woman's ex-husband has been charged with her killing and breaching a restraining order.

Christine Rakic's death in a Rooty Hill home on Tuesday was the latest in a spate of alleged domestic violence-related deaths across the city in recent weeks.

Her ex-husband, Dusan Rakic, is due to face a local court via video link from his hospital bed on Friday morning on charges of murder, breaching bail and contravening an apprehended violence order.

The 50-year-old had been in an induced coma after suffering critical wounds to his throat and arms after allegedly attacking Ms Rakic on Tuesday evening.

He remains under police guard in hospital and will move into custody upon discharge from Westmead Hospital unless he is granted bail.

Police previously said there had been "some interactions" between officers and Rakic.

Superintendent Steve Egginton said officers' main focus had been providing support to Ms Rakic's family given the "tragic set of circumstances".
