SHEPPARTON
The final of the KFC men’s chicken run took place last Wednesday in a hotly contested affair. On the first hole being played the 10th at Shepparton young Hughy Anderson’s run ended followed by Peter Rathjen and then Shane Myers on the par three 12th.
Tommy Grinter found the 13th too tough when he had tree troubles and then the big hitting Ymer Mehmet exited on the 14th.
Boo Wright’s love for the chicken ended on the 15th and when Dean Toy outchipped Andrew Spratt on a playoff on the 16th the field was down to three.
Dean Toy, Mike Edwards and Ray Sizer hit off the par three 17th and all failed to hit the green, unfortunately for Toy he was dead off the tee and his third also missed the mark meaning it was Edwards v Sizer on the last.
Both hit the fairway with their drives and with Sizer on the green for two and Edwards just off the green, it came down to the short game of each of the players. Sizer two putted for par to be in the hole and when the unlucky Edwards lipped out for par victory went to Ray Sizer.
It was great to see Ray and Jo Rathjen sitting down on Saturday night in the clubhouse with a glass of red and chicken chips celebrating the Chicken Run Champions for 2018-19.
